Heart-Brain Coherence in the age of AI: How to access your Heart intelligence & build emotional courage
Radiant You Podcast by Anna Bolender
I had the pleasure to be guested at the Radiant You Podcast hosted by the wonderful Anna Bolender. During that episode we discussed Heart-Brain Coherence and how we can access our heart intelligence and emotional courage.
It has become obvious that artificial intelligence is evolving faster than ever.
It can think, analyze, predict and execute better than humans in many areas.
And this raises a fundamental question for all of us: “If AI becomes a better mind than we are, then what makes us human?”
The answer is simple, and profound: the Heart.
Why Emotional Intelligence matters more than ever
So many things have been automated in so little time. This is just fact - but still, there’s room for something else :
in the age of AI, what cannot be automated is:
Feeling
Intuition
Empathy
Emotional awareness
Meaning and purpose
AI can process information, but it cannot feel emotions.
And emotions are not a weakness: they are a form of intelligence.
Yet most of us were never taught how to:
Understand our emotions
Regulate our nervous system
Lead from emotional awareness
Use the heart as a source of clarity
This is where heart intelligence and heart–brain coherence become essential tools for modern life.
The science behind Heart–Brain Coherence
Science now shows that:
The heart has its own neural network
It sends three times more signals to the brain than the brain sends to the heart
The heart generates a powerful electromagnetic field that carries emotional information
Your heart is not just a pump: it is a communication center and a magnet.
When the heart and brain are in coherence, the body enters a state of balance:
Stress hormones decrease
The nervous system regulates
Mental clarity improves
Emotional resilience increases
This state can be accessed in as little as three minutes.
What is Heart Coherence?
Heart coherence is a state where thoughts, emotions, nervous system and actions are aligned.
Incoherence feels like:
Wanting something but sabotaging it
Chronic stress or anxiety
Inner conflict
Feeling disconnected or stuck
while
Coherence feels like:
Calm focus
Emotional stability
Clear decisions
Alignment between inner and outer life
The 3-minute Heart Coherence practice
In this episode we talked about the 3-minutes Heart Coherence practice that helps synchronize the heart and brain.
Very fast, yet very useful.
You can follow it in three simple steps:
1. Place your hand on your heart:
This shifts awareness from thinking to feeling.
2. Breathe slowly with a longer exhale:
This activates the parasympathetic nervous system and signals safety.
3. Feel a coherent emotion:
Choose gratitude, care, appreciation, or compassion — and feel it in your body.
Practice for 3–5 minutes.
The benefits can last up to six hours.
Emotional Courage: the missing skill
Tapping into the intelligence of our hearts and leading changes in our lives can be scary.
Actually, most of the fears we have are not that much related to future — we fear the emotions we might feel.
Yet emotions are temporary sensations. Neuroscience has shown it stays only 90 seconds in our body (when we choose not to nurture them longer).
This literally means that when we learn to stay present with them, we reclaim our power.
When you can feel everything, you can do anything.
Heart coherence is a tool for emotional regulation, and it also builds up emotional courage — the ability to navigate uncertainty, change, and growth without shutting down.
Living in Coherence in a world of rapid change
Anna and I both share the same view on this : AI is not here to replace us — it is here to remind us of what matters.
In a world of accelerating technology, coherence allows us to:
Lead from clarity instead of fear
Build deeper relationships
Make aligned decisions
Stay grounded in uncertainty
We were never meant to navigate this era with the mind alone.
The future belongs to those who lead with the heart.
